These terms are the contract between you and us when you use Merastra. You accept them by ticking the box provided for that purpose when you create your account. If you buy a paid subscription, the Terms of sale apply as well and prevail on any point concerning the sale.
1. Who we are
Merastra (merastra.com) is operated by Almanach Merastra, a business registered in Québec. To reach us: support@merastra.com.
2. What the service is, and what it is not
Merastra computes birth charts, transits and tarot draws, and writes interpretations from them, grounded in a documented reference corpus.
Everything you find on Merastra is offered for entertainment and personal reflection. This applies to the whole site: the readings, the horoscopes, the encyclopedia, the correspondences and all the knowledge we gather there. Astrology and tarot are symbolic traditions, not sciences: they can shed light on a question, they do not settle it.
This content is not, and does not replace:
- medical, psychological or therapeutic advice;
- legal, tax or financial advice;
- a diagnosis, a prognosis, or a prediction of the future.
No interpretation should be the basis of a medical, financial or legal decision. For that, consult a qualified professional. If you are going through psychological distress, contact a support line in your area: we are not one.
Texts written by artificial intelligence. The interpretations are written by a language model, from our calculations and a corpus of sources we have reviewed. We guide it closely, but a generated text can contain an error, an approximation or an awkward turn of phrase. Read it as the view of an almanac, not as a truth about you.
The calculations, for their part, rest on recognized ephemerides, and we show where each element of an interpretation comes from. Our work can therefore be checked: you can trace what you read back to its source.
3. Your account
- The service is for people 18 and older. You declare it when you create your account.
- You provide a valid email address and a password of at least 10 characters.
- An account belongs to one person. Do not share your credentials.
- You are responsible for activity on your account until you have told us about unauthorized access.
- You can delete your account at any time from your personal space. Deletion is immediate and final, except for invoices, which the law requires us to keep for 6 years (see the Privacy policy, section 7).
4. Plans and usage limits
The service has a complete free plan and paid plans. What each plan includes and costs is shown on the subscriptions page, which is authoritative.
Some plans have caps: number of saved charts, number of written readings per period. These caps are stated before purchase. A cap you have already paid for is never lowered during the period: a reduction only takes effect at renewal, you are told 30 days in advance, and you can cancel at no cost.
The free plan may one day show ads: our own products or those of advertisers we have chosen, shown by us, with no ad network and no targeting. Paid plans show none.
Clearly automated or disproportionate use (mass extraction, reselling access, getting around the caps) may be limited after a warning.
Subscription, cancellation and refunds
In short, and without replacing the Terms of sale shown at checkout:
- Renewal. A paid subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly), at the same price, until you cancel it.
- Price increase. Announced by email 30 days before the renewal it applies to; you can cancel before then at no cost.
- Cancellation. One click, from your account, no reason needed. The subscription stays active until the end of the paid period, then stops; nothing else is charged.
- Refunds, Canada and outside the European Union. Full refund on request within 7 days of purchase, if you have generated neither a natal report nor a personal almanac.
- Refunds, European Union. You have 14 days to withdraw. We refund the amount paid, minus the share of the service already provided. Generating a natal report or a personal almanac during that period requires your express consent and ends the right of withdrawal for that text.
- A refund request is made by email to support@merastra.com. Your legal rights apply in every case.
Where we sell
Paid plans are not sold in countries under Canadian economic sanctions, nor in countries where astrology or divination is an offence. The list is in the Terms of sale. By subscribing, you declare that you do not reside in one of these countries; a subscription bought in breach of that declaration may be cancelled.
5. What you may do with the content
Your readings, charts and notes are yours. You may read, print, export and share them. The professional plans expressly allow you to use them with your own clients.
You may not, however:
- systematically extract the site's content (scraping, crawling, copying the database);
- republish our content as a competing service, or resell it as is;
- reverse engineer the service, or get around or attack its technical mechanisms;
- use the service to produce illegal, hateful, defamatory or misleading content.
The reference corpus, the interpretation engine, the texts, the visuals and the Merastra name belong to us or are licensed to us. The source books we draw on remain the property of their authors; we do not redistribute them.
6. What you entrust to us
You keep all rights to what you write: your questions, your journal notes, the names you give your charts. You only allow us to store them and show them to you, for as long as it takes to provide the service. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
We do not use your writing to train a model or to produce another user's content.
7. Service availability
We aim for a service that is always available, without being able to guarantee it. Maintenance downtime, hosting outages or incidents at a provider can happen. When an extended outage affects a paid plan, we extend the subscription period by the same amount.
We may change features. If a feature included in your paid plan is removed, you are told 30 days in advance and can cancel at no cost, with a pro-rated refund of the period already paid.
8. Suspension and termination
You can leave whenever you want, in one click, no reason needed.
We may suspend or close an account for a serious breach of these terms (payment fraud, attacks on the security of the service, illegal use), after warning you and giving you the chance to put things right, unless the seriousness or urgency of the situation prevents it. If we close an account without any breach on your part, the unused share of your subscription is refunded.
9. Liability
We are liable for damage caused by our own fault, under the conditions set by law.
We are not responsible for the decisions you make after reading an interpretation: they are entirely yours. Nor are we responsible for indirect damage, or for losses caused by an event beyond our control.
Nothing in this section reduces the rights the law guarantees you. If you are a consumer within the meaning of Québec's Consumer Protection Act, or a consumer in the European Union, the guarantees and remedies those laws give you apply in full, whatever the provisions above say.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the date at the top of the page changes. A significant change is announced to you by email 30 days before it takes effect. If you refuse it, you can cancel at no cost before then; using the service after that date counts as acceptance.
11. Governing law and disputes
This contract is governed by the law in force in Québec (Canada). Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Québec.
If you are a consumer living in another country, this clause does not deprive you of any mandatory protection under the law of your habitual residence, nor of the right to bring a case before the courts where you live.
Before any legal action, write to us at support@merastra.com: most disagreements are settled in one email.
12. Language
These terms are written in French, and the French version is binding. This English translation is provided for information only.
The parties have expressly required that this agreement and related documents be drawn up in French. Les parties ont expressément demandé que ce contrat et les documents qui s'y rattachent soient rédigés en français.
